Caramel Apple Fruit Dip

Have I ever told you about our book club? The book club gals are awesome. We have been meeting for 10 years,  and the first two questions I always get from anyone outside book club are: Do you actually read the book? and Do people show up? Yes and yes. Here’s how it works: we meet at one of our houses and have appetizers, wine and desserts, all of which are provided by the host. This rocks because then you are only on the hook to entertain when you host; the rest of the months are work-free! Easy, peasy. Cook if want, buy food if you don’t, but there are no judgements either way because we are thrilled someone else made us dinner. Love friends like that. 

And I love friends that share awesome recipes like this Caramel Apple Fruit Dip. Our friend, Sarah, served this fruit dip at book club a couple of years ago, and it has gone in my regular rotation ever since. It starts with a layer of sweetened cream cheese, topped with crunchy granola and finished with a drizzle of caramel sauce over the top. Scoop it up with an apple, and dessert is served. And if desserts can be healthy, this one is as close as they get. But really it doesn’t matter because it tastes so darn good. 

But don’t just save it for a dessert; Caramel Apple Fruit Dip makes an awesome snack, too. My kids love it when I surprise them after a busy school day with this for their after-school snack. Easy to prep and tasty to eat. It’s a win-win for all of us.

Caramel Apple Fruit Dip

Caramel Apple Fruit Dip

Sweetened cream cheese topped with caramel and granola.

  • 2 blocks cream cheese, softened (I used low-fat)
  • 1/2-3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2-3/4 cup granola
  • 1/3 cup caramel ice cream topping
  • 4 apples, cored and sliced in wedges


  1. Place cream cheese, 1/2 cup powdered sugar and vanilla together in a mixing bowl and blend until smooth. Add additional powdered sugar if necessary to get to spreading consistency.
  2. Spread cream cheese on a plate, sprinkle with granola and drizzle caramel over the top.
  3. Serve with apple slices.
