Why you will love this recipe
▶︎ It's bright, refreshing, and not too sweet. This Mango Mojito is made with mango nectar giving it all of the mango flavors without other fruit juices to make it cloyingly sweet.
▶︎ It's easy to make. These Cuban rum cocktails are easy to make one by one or in a pitcher. The muddling is the hardest part (but that's not really hard at all).
▶︎ It's lower in alcohol content. Mojitos are traditionally lower in alcohol content given the amount of club soda and juice in them making them a great option for lunch or happy hour.
Ingredients
The ingredients for this mango cocktail are easy to keep on hand.
A few ingredient notes:
- Fresh lime juice is a must for cocktails. The bottled juice contains preservatives that alter the flavor.
- Superfine sugar is simply granulated sugar that is a finer grain so it will dissolve more easily in cocktails.
- Mango Nectar gives you a better mango flavor than mango juice. Definitely seek it out at the grocery store.
Instructions
Although they look fancy, mojitos are super easy to make at home!
Start by adding superfine sugar, lime juice and mint leaves to a high ball glass.
Gently muddle the mint leaves to release the oils. Fill the glass with ice and add rum.
Add the mango nectar and club soda. Stir and enjoy!
FAQs
Light rum is the best rum for a mojito because it typically has a clean, clear flavor that doesn't mask the flavors of the mint and juice. Dark and spiced rums are not recommended for this drink as they are too strongly flavored.
Mango nectar is 100% mango whereas mango juice is a blend of many juices. Both will work in the drink, but the mango nectar gives you the most mango flavor without additional sugars.
A bar spoon is spiraled on the handle to break carbonation. Add it to the glass and then pour the club soda in and your drink won't overflow!
Not everyone wants alcohol in their drinks. Making it non-alcoholic is easy and equally delicious! Simply omit the rum and replace it with more club soda.
Expert Tips for the best mojitos
✘ Muddle gently. Muddling is key to releasing the oil from the mint leaves giving the drink its signature minty flavor. If you muddle too aggressively it can become bitter.
✘ Use superfine sugar. Superfine sugar dissolves completely into the lime juice so there isn't any sugar residue at the bottom of your glass.
✘ Add lots of ice. Mojitos are stirred, not shaken so adding lots of ice will properly chill your cocktail.
✘ Use quality club soda. There is a difference in mixers and when we are taking the time to make a cocktail we use the best. Fever Tree is one of our favorites.
