And good party food that is easy to make and always disappears pretty much ticks every box on my list of perfect appetizers.
Now be prepared; these tasty appetizers - filled with cheesy, crunchy goodness - are literally show stoppers.
Trust me on this one.
Why this appetizer is so good
- Bite-sized snacks are always easy to serve and eat at a party.
- It's easy to make a double (or triple) batch.
- Everyone loves bacon, especially when it's wrapped around bread.
- They taste great hot out of the oven and stay crispy when they are room temperature.
Ingredients
You can't go wrong when there are only FOUR ingredients. Does it get much easier than this?
A few ingredient notes:
- Bread: The type of bread you use makes a big difference in the outcome. Make sure you use English muffin toasting bread or Pepperidge Farm Original White Bread. If you try to use regular wheat bread, you will not get the same crunchy results.
- Cream Cheese: Use whipped cream cheese for easy spreading.
Time saving tip: Want to make this even easier? Buy a tub of spreadable chive and garlic cream cheese and use instead of the plain cream cheese and fresh chives.
Instructions
It's simple to make these little bites of goodness:
Cut the crusts off the all of the bread and reserve those for another use.
Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on each slice of bread.
Sprinkle with chives.
Using the long side of the bread, roll into a log form.
Spiral wrap the bacon around each log.
Cut each piece of bacon bread in half and bake until crisp.
FAQs
I use Pepperidge Farm Original White Bread nearly every time I make these, but it's not always easy to find. If you are having trouble finding it at the store, you can swap in English Muffin Bread (NOT English Muffins).
You can! Start by preheating your grill to 425°F.
Line a baking pan with foil and place a cooling rack on top of the foil. This makes sure the bacon cream cheese bites don't sit in the grease as they cook and allows them to get extra crispy!
Set the bacon cream cheese bites on prepared pan and grill for 20 minutes and turn them. Grill another 8-10 minutes or until crispy.
Absolutely! Prep these the morning of the party, place in a plastic container and cover tightly. Refrigerate until ready to bake.

Wow - how decadent! Definitely a "sometimes" food, as I teach the kids. It's no wonder your friends like when you bring snacks to the party!

I have also made these for years but a little bit different. I used Pimento cheese spread instead of cream cheese. I take 1 slice of bread spread the Pimento cheese on and cut the slice of bread in half. Then I wrap this with a half a slice of bread with a half of slice of bacon. Put a toothpick through it put them on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for approximently 25 to 30 min. then put them in a crock pot to keep them warm. Has anyone ever but these in freezer? I have but wondered how long they would keep in there?
Lisa says
Ooh, I love the pimento cheese inside! I have never tried to freeze them, so I can't speak to how that would work. If you try it, please let me know!

A M A Z I N G ! ! ! ! Nothing more needs to be said.
Marilyn says
Can these be assembled the night before and baked in the morning?
Lisa says
Hi Marilyn, Yes-they can be made the night before. Just be sure you cover them tightly so they don't dry out!
Marsha Anderson says
I wanted to know if they can be prepared the night before
Lisa says
Yes! Just make sure to cover tightly so the bread doesn't dry out! Enjoy!
Peggy says
My family makes these all the time but instead of chives, we use green olives, chopped and mixed into the cream cheese. Yummy!
Lisa says
Oooh, I love green olives! Sounds tasty 🙂
