Avocado Cumin Yogurt Dip

Avocado Cumin Yogurt Dip

I come from an extended family of dippers, which means there is almost always a dip at every family function. Chips, veggies, pitas, bread sticks, fruit, you name it, we dip it. I’m not entirely sure where this obsession with dips originated, but I’m proud to introduce another dip to our already considerable repertoire: Avocado Cumin Yogurt Dip. This dip is loaded with cumin, which makes it a great flavor complement to all of those upcoming Cinco de Mayo celebrations out there. Dial the heat up or down by using as much jalapeño pepper as you like. I used greek yogurt and loved how it thickened the dip. The extra protein was a bonus, too. Heart-healthy avocado gives this dip a gorgeous green color, and the cilantro and lime juice keep the taste fresh and bright.

Another great thing about this recipe? Pop everything into the blender or food processor, give it a few pulses, and it’s ready to go. Slice up some veggies, bake up some pita chips, and you have great option to take to parties where you want to be assured of a healthier snack option. I don’t think anyone will suspect it’s healthy nature, though. My family certainly didn’t. And they are kind of dip snobs.

  1. Mmmm, I want to make this immediately and spread it on some toast and call it breakfast (or just eat it with a spoon)! YUM!

    • Thanks, Steph. It’s addictive stuff!

  2. I love this dip! Avocado is such a great food and then mixing it with yogurt & cumin takes it to a new level. This would be a great topper on a veggie burger too!

    • Ooooh, love the veggie burger idea. Will definitely have to give that a go!

    • Going to make this tomorrow for an outing with some friends. Serve it up with some fresh veggie, carrot, capsicum, cucumber etc. I often make a plain avo, lemon juice and yoghurt dip. Will add some garlic and cummin for a change. No coriander but will throw some fresh parsley instead. Not the same flavour but an acceptable comprimise.

      • Love your variation, Leigh. Hope your friends enjoy the dip!

  3. I made this for a neighborhood social last night and it was a hit! They liked how it was lighter/fluffier than a standard guac dip. I will be making this again for sure!

    • Although I could eat Guac by the bowlful, it’s nice to have an alternative that is still tasty. I’m glad everyone enjoyed it!
